Cargill to establish palm oil crushing plant in Indonesia

FBR Staff Writer Published 20 December 2011

American agribusiness company Cargill plans to establish a new palm oil crushing plant in Indonesia.

Cargill Tropical Palm Holdings CEO John Hartmann said the company plans to build the facility near its plantation in South Sumatra.

The company, however, has not finalized the plant's capacity and is working on a plan for land expansion.

Cargill has 41,000 hectares of oil palm plantation on Sumatra and Borneo islands, and operates four mills with a total capacity of 320 tons per hour.

Cargill, based in Minnetonka, Minnesota, has five business units - agriculture services; food ingredients and applications; industrial, origination and processing; and risk management and financial.
